And not only that, whenever our MCs went somewhere new, we never had any description of the setting, so I literally could never place myself within the story. But it didn't work for me because I never got a sense of place, of location. I have no sense of geographical location, and I have to assume that that's done on purpose by the author so that the story can, theoretically, be set anywhere. But while I liked the overall storyline and I thought the author did a good job of portraying a sympathetic villain, a few things hindered my enjoyment.įirst, the world-building is nonexistent.
